I'm a day late, but please enjoy her tale and poem, since I twisted her.. I mean, recruited her to post.. :] A message from Sue: "Ticky would you post this for me, I hope it is not too late for posting. thank you Na Toui" Soudary .. About the Lazy Bat by Souksakhone Mangala I like to share my poem "Don't be a lazy bat", it is about a bat that was in one of the Laotian tales. My grandparents always told me the moral stories/tales, and the lazy bat was one of them. They told me this particular tale so many times when I was little. Also my parents always reminded me of the story by saying "Don't be lazy like a bat"; even though I was not a lazy girl (at least I don't think so) but they still reminded me often. Now I like to share this tale, and I also made a poem about the bat. Some of you may or may not have heard of this tale. Like my elders said (and I agree), working is another way of keeping us stay running and healthy, physically and mentally; don't you agree? Here is the tale (in a shorter version). There was a lazy bat that always found excuses to avoid working, he even didn't want to build his own place to live. In the end, his consequences were, he must live in the cave, sleep hanging upside down and go out to hunt for food after everyonelse finished, during night time. Here is my poem to capture the tale in my words: Don't be the bat in the tale, that claimed, he has ears like rat but is too lazy to dig a hole in the ground to live. Don't be the bat in the tale, that claimed, he has wings like a bird but is too lazy to build the nest for a place to rest, Don't be the bat in the tale, who was forced to live in the cave, and sleeps hanging upside down; Don't be the lazy bat in the tale. == karmic@qon.lao.net -=kar.ma [kar me, ker-] noun, often cap: the force generated by a person's actions held in Hinduism and Buddhism to perpetuate transmigration and in its ethical consequences to determine one's destiny in one's next existence=- _____________________________________________________________ = You want FREE web-based email ? = You want your own @qon.lao.net address?? = Then you want LaoNet's WebMail ! = Get it at http://webmail.lao.net !! _ ***************************************************************** Visit SatJaDham Homepage at: http://www.satjadham.org (or .net) *****************************************************************
