Well ok maybe I'm a lot overly excited. lol So please brothers and sisters lend me your mind but most importantly lend me your heart in our ever lasting odyssey of SJD. As requested by Uncle Lance and with full permission of D+D I am honor to present you the legendary tail of Konkoi the Ghost. Konkoi the Ghost By D+D Our Grandmother always tells us that Konkoi the Ghost will get us if we misbehave too much. When we asked her how much misbehaving is too much misbehaving she slapped us on the bottom and Uncle Lance laughed and laughed. Uncle's a bit strange like that sometimes but we don't mind. We asked Grandfather about Konkoi the Ghost and he told us many stories about him. This is the first one he told us and is about how Konkoi became a ghost but isn't really a ghost. We hope you like Grandfathers story about Konkoi the Ghost. Konkoi the Ghost Long, long ago when the world was young; when gods and daemons walked the earth in the guise of men; an immortal by the name of Konkoi angered the Great God to an extent that the god put a curse upon him. Now as you may know the great god is a kind and gentle god who cares for his followers and those who worship him in a way that many gods do not. Konkoi was a favorite of the Great God so I can not imagine what he did that was awful enough to anger his master to such an extent that a curse was placed upon him but he managed it. Konkoi was very young for an immortal, barley ten thousand years old. Like many young people he was vain and ignorant, forever looking at his own reflection in pools and lakes and telling himself how beautiful he was. When The Great God summonsed him, Konkoi would often keep his master waiting and he was sometimes rude to Shaya the Queen of the Dragons who The Great God loves very much. Possibly it was all of these things that caused The Great God to curse Konkoi. It may also have been something else. Whatever it was you could be sure that it caused Konkoi great grief and pain. As I have said Konkoi was vain, he enjoyed seducing beautiful young women and behaved in a way that the great God dislike. One day the great god caused thunder to slit the heavens and pronounced his curse upon Konkoi. " Thou who are so vain of thy own beauty shall know the sadness of ugliness. All beauty shall shink from thy noble form until thou resemble the monkeys of the forest. Thy feet shall face the way thou hasn't come and all creatures shall fear thy presence. I condemn you faithless servant to exist in this mighty forest until my anger abates. It shall be thy task to guard my forest from destruction and damage, to prevent the faithless from disturbing my rest and to encourage the faithful in their task. Do thy task well Konkoi that I may in some future age forgive thee." As The Great Gods words roared down from the heavens Lightening split the skies, mighty winds screamed through the forest and Konkoi hid himself deep within a cave to protect himself from The Great God's anger. As he sat there in the darkness he felt his beautiful body begin to change and shink and coarsen. Konkoi screamed in agony and fear, running from the cave he found a beautiful pool were he looked upon his reflection witnessing the last stages of his transformation. From a tall handsome youth he saw himself change into a squat ugly hairy monkey like being whose feet where indeed backwards 'No!!!!" He screamed to the heavens as he threw himself upon the ground begging for The Great Gods mercy. "Forgive me Lord and I shall serve you faithfully." But no answer came even though Konkoi lay there all night waiting. As the dawn opened the heavens on a new day Konkoi raised himself up of the ground and tried to walk but it was difficult with his feet on backwards. He spent the entire day trying to put his feet in their correct position but it was useless. Eventually he accepted that The Great God meant what he had said. Konkoi took to the trees like a real monkey and began his duties as guardian of the forest hoping that he could earn the forgiveness of The Great God. Kongoi came to love his beautiful forest, the trees became his friends and he delighted in the antics of all the creatures that lived within his realm. Eon after eon he cared for The Great Gods forest and the creatures who lived there until The Great God took pity on the once beautiful youth. One day as Konkoi patrolled the forest he saw a beautiful field that he had never seen before. Strange he thought it wasn't there last time I passed this way. At one end of the field was a high hill with a waterfall tumbling into a large clear lake. Konkoi moved to the trees bordering the field and climbed to the very highest branch of the highest tree. Surveying the field he saw a tall golden youth sitting on the grass beside the lake. Deer and sun bears had left the forest and stood around the stranger seeming to worship him. Konkoi left the trees and approached the stranger only recognising him as The Great when he was too close to retreat. The Great God sat on the grass surrounded by forest creatures; he looked calmly at Konkoi and smiled.
