Satjadham presents: --------------------------------------------- 4 Elephants -------------------------------------- By Adisack Nhouyvanisvong 1. Searching for Elephants In a smoky and isolated corner, I continue to pull the lever. On this same stool I sit for eight hours, waiting for four elephants. C'mon elephants, show your heads, show me the money. I will sit here for eight more tiring hours, until you show yourselves. 2. Desiring the Elephants I drift off, dreaming about the sports car to replace my plain looking Dodge. The picture on the 13 inch Zenith, just isn't as clear as a 26 inch Sony. A Motorola cellular, of course I need one, I'm an important person. And of course, I can not tell time without a Rolex. 3. Releasing the Elephants Another eight hours pass, the image of the shiny new car rusts. The clear picture on the Sony fades to snow. The Motorola stops ringing, and the Rolex stops ticking. I watch the impermanent and soulless elephants disappear into the horizon. 4. Perceiving the Elephants I put right effort into my actions and am mindful of my existence, I think no ill-thoughts and speak no untruths, I am calm, composed, and concentrated, As I sit on my cushion in meditation.
