Satjadham presents the next installment in our series "Generation Gap": We versus THEM By Amphon Guy Phiaxay WE, we are the new generation we are living in the modern world we want to fit in with our friends we don't know much of our parents' culture THEY, they want to follow old Lao tradtion they went through childhood before us they want us to be good all the times they want to protect their family's name WE, we don't speak Lao very fluently we want to be up with the new fashion and technology we listen to rock and rap music THEY, they don't speak English fluently they have problems adapting to the changes they listen to mostly Lao music WE did something foolish THEY would punish us WE rebel THEY would lecture us WE hate their rules and regulation THEY see them as a way for us to become a better person WE need a benefit of a doubt THEY think we need discipline WE are in the process of growing up THEY want us to grow up in proper manner How do WE show our appreciation for their concern? How do THEY show their compassion for US?
