Once upon of time there were two birds, who were husband and wife, that lived in a cozy, tiny nest. They would stay in their nest all day, all night, and all the time. When they got hungry, they had to leave the nest to search for food in the forest. One day, they flew into the forest in between the trees. With the husband leading, followed by his wife, they came to perch side by side on a leafy branch. They rested for awhile and then started out again. Even though the two birds just arrived, it wasn't too long until they were engulfed in a sudden forest fire. It was a great shock to see the flames spreading around them so quickly. No matter which way they flew, they could not escape the terrible flames. In the scorch heat, the husband managed to fly up very quickly. He didn't want to leave his wife behind, but he had no choice but to save his own life. His poor wife watched him go and just before she was burned to death, she said," In my reincarnation, I refuse to speak to any man." Many years later, she was reborn as a girl and her husband upon his death, was reborn as a boy. The girl was born in a loving and caring family in a nearby village to where the boy was born. The girl's parent were worried about their daughter. She refused to interact with any boys in the village. Her parents could not understand why their daughter acted in this manner. They were apprehensive about her future, for they knew that a girl who would not speak to boys could not expect to find happiness. They were heart broken when she became ill and died at the age of 20. Her former husband, who lived nearby, heard about the girl's death. He came to see her grieving parents. All of her friends were mourning with them. The man looked into the coffin and offered to help the family. He said, "I am the doctor, I have a charm (kong hak sah) that can bring your daughter back to life." The parents gave him the permission to bring back their daughter. He waved his charm over the girl's forehead and suddenly she started talking to everyone in the room. The parents were ecstatic. The person who she spoke about the most was the man who brought her back to life. They fell in love, got married and lived happily. Sometimes they felt that they had been married in a previous life. They felt it so strongly but they never knew for sure. _ ***************************************************************** Visit SatJaDham Homepage at: http://www.satjadham.org (or .net) *****************************************************************
